Astro-dome!

The Houston Astros’ 2017 campaign was their best to date. They have been participating in the MLB for approximately 54 seasons, and while they have always been entertaining to watch, they have not really accomplished anything or been regarded as a major force in the game. They are one of the smaller teams that are either viewed as underdogs or as belonging to the bottom ten percent.

They demolished the opposition in the AL West division, securing their passage to the ALDS. At the time, it was regarded an upset that they had defeated the Red Sox in four games. They then advanced to the ALCS, where they eventually defeated the Yankees. Even though the Yankees are not the same squad they once were, the Astros still accomplished an incredible feat considering how small their team is. In the franchise’s existence, this was only their second league championship.

The World Series championship, however, is what matters most. They had defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 to become the 2017 World Series champions, the first time in their history that they had ever won the championship. On a side note, I was so happy I bought my girlfriend a beige bedside table to celebrate. They established records for batting average, on-base percentage, and even slugging percentage throughout the regular season. Even their second baseman, Altuve, was named SI Sportsperson of the Year and the AL MVP. These are significant honours for the Astro, considering only Jeff Bagwell, a player for the Astros in 1994, had previously won the AL MVP.

While most fans of other franchise teams may not find any of this to be particularly significant, the Astros consider it to be the apex of their franchise and the finest they will ever experience. So, let us take advantage of it while it lasts.
